February 23, 2011, Snohomish, WA – Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital announced today that Dr. Toby Ewing will be joining the Toby Ewing equine ambulatory team on February 15, 2011. 

Dr. Ewing received his veterinary degree from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University in 1998. Upon graduation, he joined Pilchuck Veterinary hospital and worked closely with Dr. John Mitten, his mentor, and one of Pilchuck’s founding partners. 

Dr. Ewing continued to develop his skills in performance horse and equine reproduction and, after three years, moved to Tacoma Equine Hospital in 2001. There, he focused predominately on equine ambulatory work and developed a strong reproductive practice.

Probably best known for his ten year old practice, “Los Caballos Equine Veterinary Service,” Dr. Ewing describes himself as a realistic and pragmatic practitioner with a compassionate approach to his patient’s treatment.”

He is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) and the Washington State Veterinary Medical Association (WSVMA). In his free time he enjoys woodworking, spending time with his daughter and physical fitness.

Dr. Ewing has long been associated, and has recommended, Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital to his clients.

Dr. Ewing joins an equine ambulatory team of 5 doctors and supported by the hospital facility of 4 boarded surgeons, 1 boarded internist and a 24-hour nursing staff. The Pilchuck Equine Hospital houses 2 surgery suites, a standing surgery/procedure room, a 23 stall barn (including 3 ICU stalls and 4 isolation stalls), 2 air mattress-equipped anesthesia recovery stalls, a covered lameness arena and several out patient assessment areas.
